How do you describe your passion for music?

For me music is like oxygen to my soul.. there is no easier or more accurate way to put it..

Is music as powerful to you as sex.. love.. another hobby or interest in your life?

Honestly music as as important as all of the above.. probably more so because music won't hurt me, it's consistant..

I'm hooked.. :luv:

I always thought I loved music. I always believed I was incredibly passionate about it. I would find myself humming throughout the day, deriving pleasure simply from its company. Then I made the mistake of starting to hang around musos and I realised that what I thought was passion didn't even begin to scratch the surface of what true passion was.

From a non musician point of view music can be all consuming and a delight and a special part of you that makes the hard times seem easier and the good times all the more enjoyable. It's more than a hobby; its a comfort. But could I ever achieve that nirvana where I'm totally in the moment and the music has completely taken over my soul and controlling me with its heartbeat? I think that feeling is available only to the select few who have the honour of calling themself musicians.

I wouldn't even describe it as a passion ... it is more like a necessity. Without it I am incomplete, and it cocoons me more safely than even the strongest of arms.

You live it, you breathe it, you feel it around you every moment of every day. It completes you, and makes you whole.

What ever mood I'm in, it makes me happy. I was never a musician, so donno the passion.

Don't think I really appreciated how important music was in my life until the car accident a while back. Until then I really didn't know any different because it had always been a part of my life, from almost before I could walk. Suddenly I was faced with the real posibility that I wouldn't be able to play again and the anguish of that thought caused me more pain than someone ripping my god damn heart still beating out of my chest.

Still get incredibly frustrated by not being able to hold the chords as well and my fingers not moving as fast as they used to but there's not a day that goes by that I don't thank my lucky stars that it wasn't taken away from me completely. Simply could not live without it.

I understand your horror, I'd feel much the same losing my hearing I imagine.. I'm not speaking for myself alone here, but I'm just so grateful you're here for me to terrorise affectionately
